How do i keep my Quaker parrot entertained?

Hi, I recently bought a Quaker Parrot and I named him Rambo. he is a serious attention seeker. Im 14 and go to high school and both my parents work, I need tips on how to keep him entertained when im at school. I bought him a toy that he wont touch, I think he might be scared of it. he has a big cage with plenty of room. i was thinking that putting him in front of the TV might keep him busy. Any tips would be great!!

The best thing would be to get another Quaker to keep him occupied since he’s alone during the day, but that comes with twice the time, effort, and costs. He should have a variety of toys. They like toys made with leather rope, mirrors, wood, bells, cardboard, toiletpaper…and pretty much anything that can be destroyed. Toys must be rotated often because they will become bored with the same ones. I found that leaving cartoons or music on helps a bit..my quaker taught herself how to dance that way =]
Make sure the toys you have are made for birds his size. He will be afraid of something that is bigger and scarier than him. If he seems scared then try showing him its ok by playing with the toy yourself. I know it sounds silly but it works! You can also clip the toy near the bottom on the outside of the cage to make him not feel inferior to it. If and when he starts to show interest in it try putting it in the cage.
You can buy toys that simulate foraging because in the wild most of their day consists of finding food. Just buy a toy that you can hide treats in for him to find.
If you have time try misting him or letting him play in a bowl of water in the morning before you leave. Not only is this good for his feathers but he will spend a good amount of time preening himself while he’s wet. You can buy a perch to go in the shower. They really enjoy that.

Just make sure his cage has enough food, water, toys, and perches of different sizes and materials and he should be ok. When you are home make sure to give him plenty of attention and out of cage time to prevent him from being depressed, squaking, or feather plucking.
