What is this type of craft/sewing project called?

What is the stitching kit that comes with a needle like hook with a latch, pieces of yarn, some kind of wax paper thing ( squares ) and it comes in various sizes…you finish it and it looks like something (cat, butterfly, house, etc.) please I dont know waht this is called and also…
How do you do it? if you know what I’m talking about above that is what I’m asking how to do….How do you do that thing I talked about above….sorry if this is confusing but I need to know by tomarrow morning so please help me! Thanks!
