When do Green Cheek Conures go through chewing/nipping stage?

I think he is about 5-6 months(give or take a couple) and he chewing on everything! I give him toys and folded pieces of paper, and he chews them to death and wants more.

So what age do they begin this stage just wondering?

Also, when do birds molt? Since he doesn’t liked to be touch right now too much and keeps preening out feathers of his?

Green Cheek Conures do indeed go through a nippy stage around one year. It’s about the same time that they start becoming sexually mature. The same goes for their first molt. My Green Cheek likes chewing metal (watchbands, keys and key chains, cheap jewelry……etc.) I have other birds that are a little older and they get nippy when their hormones are raging. Poor things. It does go away in time and the change in seasons factor in too. Good Luck
