Is this a good size for a parakeet cage?

I am looking into parakeets both for myself and a friend. I was wondering, though, if a cage 22 inches wide, 16.5 inches long, and 27 inches high is suitable for one? I know that it is best to have 2 so the one does not get lonely, but I want to get 1 to get him/her trained to flying/perching so I don’t have any problems. But yeah, just wondering a cage of those dimensions is okay to have 1 or 2 birds (if I have to I can get a bigger cage later on for a second bird).

sure thats a good bird cage size make sure you get toys for the bird too, also and at night cover their cage up so that the parakeet can sleep well at night hope this helped =) oh and when u let the parakeet out of its cage make sure u close ur blinds or cover ur windows with something because they usually fly towards the window thinking theres nothing there when BAM! they hit it >.<
