Help! my parakeet is sick:( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Okay, so my parakeet is a girl. Ive had her for like almost two months. I think she has diarhhea. She has like,..runny..(ew) poop falling in her cage. She eats Kaytee Forti-diet parakeet seed and I give her new water every day. She isn’t as loud as normal and she is less active. Maybe I’m being paranoid, but I’m kind of scared. Please help.

You’re not being at all paranoid. Birds get eaten if they seem or act sick or week. Because of that, it is common for birds to hide being ill for as long as they can. If she is showing any signs at all that she MIGHT be sick, then she probably has been ill for a while longer than you first noticed any difference in her behavior.

With any animal, a change in stool (poop) is a clear indication that things are not normal. (Not always a sign of actual illness, but certainly things are not normal.) If she is not as active or not making as much noise as before, that is also a clear sign that things are not normal. Those signs together suggest a visit to the vet.

It is tough to find an avian vet, but you really should try to find one as birds are very different from many other common pets. In the meantime, make sure you clean her cage every day so that you can keep track of her poops and see if she is improving or getting worse.

While you should not do anything drastic, you can give her a some electrolytes in case she might get dehydrated. Do not replace her water, but see of she will take a few sips of pedialyte. If she is afraid of the spoon or shows no interest, give her an additional water dish with a half and half mixture of pedialyte and water.

Look closely at her cage and surroundings (if you let her out of her cage) to see if she might have gotten into somehting that might be causing this.

You are not being paranoid. You are being a vigilant pet owner by noticing these changes. But you do have to do something and she cannot be diagnosed over the internet. It would be best if you can get her seen by a vet as soon as possible.
