Which reptile thermometers are the best?
~I have heard that some thermometers can be off by 20 degrees. I use the flukers thermometer/hygrometer combo- are these dependable?
~For a bearded dragon, what would the correct wattage be for a basking bulb heating a forty gallon terrarium?
Suggestions for different gauges and lights are welcome.
You can use one of two things. A digital probe thermometer or a temperature gun. The stick on and dial type thermometers are only for measuring air temperatures and NOT basking temps. I use a 100 watt regular light bulb for basking and it is plugged into a dimmer switch to adjust the temp to 100F for my adult beardie. Baby beardies need 10F. Attach the probe to the basking platform with a piece of tape. You can also buy thermostats and set them to keep the heat bulb regulated. Don’t forget to use a UVB bulb as well….Reptiglo 8.0 or Reptisun 10.0 are great.
