Handfeeding Syringe? PROBLEM?

I just bought a new handfeeding syringe last night to feed my baby cockatiels, and now the rubber piece gets stuck to the point where it wont move. I couldnt get it out, I ended up breaking it. I dont want to have to keep buying syringes so what can I do to keep it working? I used it like Im suppose to, feed than clean it with soap than it stoped working.

When using a re-usable syringe you can put a little bit of oil (olive, veg) on the rubber bit to help it glide.

I use disposable ones from the chemist. They are only 15 cents each and come sterile packed. That way when they start to stick, out it goes. I generally only get 2 or so days out of them (the rubber o-ring doesn’t seem to like being sterilized all that much) but even at 1 a day it only works out at about $8 for the whole raising time.
Best thing is that after that last night feed you don’t have to clean it.
