what can you get to put in the yard to scare birds away!?
I have a lady next store that has 4 bird feeders in front and 5 in back. I wouldnt mind if it was one. But I get all the poop on my yard, porch, and kids swingset. I have 3 kids and 2 have breathing problems and I am worried about them being around the bird poop. And I am sick of cleaning it. I would like to find something to put in my yard to scare them away BUt I dont want to hurt them either.
unfortunatly for your situation birds are quite the adaptors, and intelligent. Most all things sold to be “deterants” like blow up snakes, and even the age old scarecrow dont last long until the bird realizes its not real. Im not sure of your location, but with warmer weather and time of year here its breeding season so there will be lots of action as birds not only go to feeders, but scavenge for insects,alot species are insect eaters only. They will be feeding little ones, and it will be hard to deter them. On the plus side, although bird poop is poop it will not affect breathing problems, bird dander and feathers do that. Being outdoors with unlimited fresh air should neutrilize this problem, so unless you have a yard full of feathers i wouldnt worry about that:) You might have to cut your losses on this one, the only option that i see is to talk to your neighbor about possibly reducing the amount of feeders, tell her your conserns, take a few pics of the bird poo on everything. She might be able to compromise, however birds are creatures of habit and will continue for awhile to frequent the same spots until they are sure the food source is gone.
