How do I make a dome shaped form using crochet cotton, a balloon and sugar water?

We used to do it with watered down white glue. Mix equal parts of white glue (elmers) with one part water. Soak the string in it, as you are taking the string out of the glue run it between your fingers to get the excess out, then wrap your balloon and let it dry. Pop the baloon, pull it out, and you’re done!
