Chicken House Plans – Practical And Attractive Designs
There seems to be a stack of ill-conceived chicken house plans on the internet. However, amongst the junk there are quite a few attractive, practical designs that can be used by professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike. This article outlines the best plans.
There are 3 main types of chicken coop:
1) The a-frame coop.
2) The box shaped coop.
3) The hen house style coop.
Each of these designs are aimed at different consumer needs. You need to match your egg yield requirements, chicken breeding goals, and other factors in to decide which one is best for you.
Simple A-Frame Chicken Coops
Most people will be happy with a small, portable style of coop. The a-frame is simple to build, doesn’t require a massive stack of building materials, and will house around 5 birds. Keep in mind that this style of coop doesn’t provide a lot of running space, so you’ll have to let your flock out every day.
Mid-sized Chicken Coops
One size up from the a-frame coop is the medium sized box-shaped coop. This one is a lot taller, but takes up a similar amount of ground space. There are multiple storeys so you can fit more chickens inside. It also has an enclosed nesting and incubation area.
Fully Featured Chicken Barn
For those of us who take breeding chickens very seriously, the chicken barn provides all the modern features. Though it may seem like a complex structure, it’s really not that hard to build, especially if you can get some help from a friend or family member.

Selective Breeding $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Selective breeding is the process of breeding plants and animals for particular genetic traits. Typically, strains which are selectively bred are domesticated, and the breeding is sometimes done by a professional breeder. Bred animals are known as breeds, while bred plants are known as varieties, cultigens, or cultivars. The cross of animals results in what is called a crossbreed and crossbred plants are called hybrids. The term selective breeding is synonymous with artificial selection. In animal breeding techniques such as inbreeding, linebreeding and outcrossing are utilized. In plant breeding similar methods are used. Charles Darwin discussed how selective breeding had been successful in producing change over time in his book, Origin of Species. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 114 Publication Date: 2010/05/19 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.27 inches |

Cooperative Breeding in Mammals $125.85 Cooperative breeding refers to a social system in which individuals other than the parents provide care for the offspring. Since individuals delay breeding and invest in the offspring of others, cooperative breeding poses a challenge to a Darwinian explanation of the evolution of social behavior. The contributors to this book explore the evolutionary, ecological, behavioral, and physiological basis of cooperative breeding in mammals. The book contains a collection of chapters by the leading researchers in the field, and it is the first book dedicated exclusively to the study of mammalian cooperative breeding. Economic Aspects of Animal Breeding $508.21 This important book covers economic evaluation of genetic differences in animals, determination of breeding goals within an economic context and economic evaluation of breeding programs. During the last 50 years there have been great advances made in the breeding of domesticated animal species. Most of this work has been achieved through the efforts of geneticists, and often the economic goals of such advances have not been clearly evaluated. Economic Aspects of Animal Breeding redresses the balance and provides a much needed synthesis of this most important subject. The book is divided into five sections: basic concepts; economic evaluation of genetic differences; advanced topics in selection indices; economic evaluation of breeding programs, including biotechnological aspects; crossbreeding and heterosis. Author: Weller, J. I./ Weller, Joel Ira Binding Type: Hardcover Number of Pages: 264 Publication Date: 1994/02/28 Language: English Dimensions: 9.50 x 6.36 x 0.73 inches |

Induce Breeding of Labeo Calbasu $111.53 Availability of required quantity of fish seed of desired species is one of the most important pre requisite for successful fish farming. The widely cultured Indian major carps in inland waters like Calbasu (Labeo calbasu) normally do not breed in confined waters. The experiment was conducted to study the induced breeding of Labeo calbasu using synthetic hormone (Ovaprim). Induced Breeding is an artificial scientific technique whereby ripe fish breeders are stimulated by careful and intentional environmental manipulation. Induced breeding required an integrated system unit of different physical and biological facilities. These requirements are possible to fulfill by establishing a hatchery. Therefore, it is essential to develop the breeding technology of Labeo calbasu through proper dose optimization of synthetic hormone treatment for future development. Fundamentals of Animal Breeding and Genetics $154.53 This is a book written by one of the Practitioners in the field of Animal Breeding in Africa. The author delved into the History of Animal genetics, a documentary of African animal genetic resources, Breeding, selection, mating systems and some elements of statistics to assist lecturers, graduate and postgraduate students in this core area to enable them understand and apply genetic principles to animal improvement in Africa. It is about the application of breeding methods to achieve sustainable use of indigenous resources for the benefit of all and the future generation of the black race. The importance of agricultural research and the application of genetic principle to crop and livestock production in the West African subregion cannot be overemphasized, the production of this book is intended to address this issue.
