how short should i cut bird nails?

I would suggest taking the birds to a vet or another bird professional, because this can be a tricky thing to do (especially if the bird is fussy about it). This way you can learn how to do it and not worry about it. Birds can be very upset if this is done in the wrong manner and you don’t want to give them a bad experience to remember it by. You have to be careful not to trim too high up the nail. It’s also easier to trim than to ‘cut’ or clip off pieces…this can make you go too high.
Also have a solution to press to the nail in case you trim too high and there is any blood.
