question about bettas?

about keeping three female bettas together? when they r making their little totem pole and fighting about who gets 2 be on the top of the totem pole, do any of the fish get seriously hurt? ‘cuz i’ve got a mean female and the other 2 r alright. just scared about the big female hurting the other 1s.

I have kept many female bettas in my 29 gallon, and currently have 9.

The bigger the tank and plants helps with agression. As well as allowing the female bettas to nip at each other, they are establishing a pecking order to see who is the dominant female.

I have matured females, and have introduced juvi females, and the matured ones do not nip at the juvis. The other matured females still might get nipped, but as long as you medicate the tank with Melafix and keep up with water changes, their fins will heal.

It is best to keep them together, if seperated your only stressing out the nipped female even more. Unless you have a cycles Hospital Tank with a heater and a filter. Medicating in a un-aeirated tank is not sufficientm and will only kill the female betta.
