Small parrot supplies? Help?
I am looking at getting a jardines parrot. I know the minimum cage size is 24″ x 24″. What are generally some favorite toys of these parrots? Like hard wood, leather, shredding, etc. What are some general favorites? Also, which of these are the best cage?

I understand larger parrots need huge cages, but a senegal is only 11″ long. I got that measurement of 2 senegal websites. Besides, the cages I have there are larger anyways.

My friend has her cockatiel in a 25″ by 35″ cage and i have my quaker in a 45″ by 40″ cage, so the biggest cage you can afford is best.
As for toys, it does depend on the bird itself even amongst the species. But my quaker loves wiffle balls, you can fill them with paper and leather (leaves a bit hanging out). Palm leaf shedders or chinese finger traps/bamboo sticks (come in heaps of diff names) are great for sliding on the perch and she goes nuts trying to rip it up.
Leather in string or disc or scraps are great. Plastic chain in the smaller size and in shorter lengths are safe.
Foraging is a huge must for any bird, it can be as cheap and easy as wrapping dried fruit and nuts in paper and hiding around the cage or buying foraging toys. Just remember to start out really really simple if the bird hasnt done it before, heaps of people buy advanced foraging/puzzle toys and whinge about how the bird doenst use it, lol. Like just putting a tissue over its food bowl and poking holes in it so it can see the food, it learns that the food it behind the tissue.
A great thing to do is join a forum for bird owners, they have great ideas that you can use.
